Exposed: Japantown

When I first heard about the Exposed: Japantown photo contest, I was determined to win it. Which is an irrational goal, since no one can control the judge's tastes, the competition's skill level, or one's own luck. Still, Seattle's Japantown is the spiritual center of my background and being, and its revival has been spearheaded …

Make some noise! It's #FlyByFriday! The Guardian at sunset for your #WildlifeWednesday. Hel-looo-ooo!!! Anyone else feel SPRUNG today? Looking for answers on a #FlyByFriday. I missed #WildlifeWednesday because as @audubonsociety was hiding from the future, my organization @SeattleAudubon and others were embracing it. We are not immersing ourselves in the comfort of white supremacy. We remain nestled in the beautiful chaos of change. Claws out on a #FlyByFriday. Shorties make sounds like screeching cats when agitated. Sunbathing on a #WildlifeWednesday. Isn't she lovely? Back on the hunt for #FlyByFriday and #WorldWildlifeDay. Covid finally got me, y'all. Got me good. During the interminable time isolated from the rest of the world, my moments of joy came from watching my feeder. A Spotted Towhee and California Scrub Jay were frequent daily visitors, along with the various Finches and Sparrows, Bushtits, and Black-Capped Chickadees. The Dark-Eyed Juncos were the heralds, reminding that life's simple pleasures are reasons more than enough to fight and stick around. On this #WildlifeWednesday, I declare that birds helped save me.
